As we welcome the season of fun and sun, it pays to be mindful of your well-being especially with the rising heat and stronger UV rays. Here are five ways to keep safe and protected while making the most out of your summer: 

1. Time your outdoor activities 

When heading out, try to avoid peak UV hours, which are typically from 10am to 4pm. Schedule your activities early in the morning or later in the afternoon to minimize exposure to sunburn, dehydration, and heat exhaustion.  

2. Protect yourself from head to toe  

Never leave home without applying sunscreen, regardless of season (yes, even when it’s cloudy outside). It’s your best defense against sunburn, early signs of aging, and even skin cancer. Dress in breathable fabrics and pair your OOTD with a cap and a pair of UV-blocking sunglasses. Don’t forget to care for your eyes too!  

3. Drink your liquids 

Always keep a bottle of water within reach whether you are home or on the go. The heat can drain your energy quickly, so increase your usual intake and munch on snacks heavy on water content to keep you boosted throughout the day. 

4. Stay active 

Constant movement boost your energy and mood. This season, pick a sport or activity you enjoy doing and can commit to. Popular options nowadays include pickleball, Pilates, running, or simply walking to counter the summer slump. 

5. Keep cool and rest  

As you pack your summer with getaways, meet-ups, and workouts, don’t forget to slow down and recharge. Choose an activity that helps you reset. Pick up a book or enjoy a spa session to balance your mind and body.
